Field Trips are more fun at Gators & Friends

Animals create great teaching opportunities.

All children should have the opportunity to experience these fascinating and exotic animals up close and personal! Watching a child pet a goat or donkey for the first time is quite moving. Gators and Friends strives to bring a new found appreciation for the animals sharing the planet with us, and through this appreciation we hope to create a sense of respect. We offer the public the opportunity to see, pet, and feed animals that they may have never seen or heard of before. Download our FREE Field Trip Guide before you come to prepare your students and then complete your experience with the post-trip activities.

Zookeeper For A Day Reading Initiative

Win free passes just for reading!

Gators & Friends is an avid supporter in our surrounding communities in motivating elementary school age children to develop a love for reading. Each month participating schools randomly select a student who meets their reading goal for a Family 4 Pass to visit Gators & Friends with their family. Schools can register to participate by contacting Julia Foley Bey at (318) 771-1768 beginning in July and the program will continue when the new school year begins.

How can my student be the Zookeeper for a Day

From all of those reading winners at participating schools each month, one student is selected randomly to be the Zookeeper For A Day in partnership with KTAL News 6. This student and their family will get a behind the scenes learning experience with one of the Gators Zookeepers and some other special treats, including an interview that will be shown on the evening news and also on Arklatexhomepage.com. Schools can register to participate by contacting Julia Foley Bey at (318) 771-1768.
